You are looking at an insanely rare Burton Snowboards Mystery Sensei 156cm. This is part of the Mine 77 Collection which is ridiculously Limited and Sold Out in seconds. The Snowboard is a Burton Mystery Sensei design with a Ride On Jake Tribute graphic paying homage to Burton's Late Founder Jake Burton Carpenter. This collection was dropped in extremely Limited Quantities and was conceptualized by Jake's Family after he passed away. The board is Brand New still in the wrapping, with the base tags, sticker and hardware still attached. I’m continuously inspired by the progressive shapes coming out in Burton’s Family Tree, and how the entire line is now gender-neutral.
Last season, I fell in love with the Sensei in particular. The shape is super fun—narrow, quick, fast as hell, and carves like a hot knife through butter. Somehow floats like a boat in the pow, too. Not your typical pow board, then again, Masa, the Japanese pow legend who designed it, is not your typical rider. For Mine77 we gave this board the lightest core and fastest base in snowboarding. We based the graphic on one of Burton’s earliest boards—the Performer. The colors bring it full circle with a nod to Japan’s Shibori tie-dye technique. Words by Timi Burton
