When Atomic dropped the Backland Carbon, people were blown away by how well it skied and toured, not to mention the fact that Atomic was finally allocating resources to a segment of skiing outside of racing. Two years in, and the Atomic Backland Carbon Alpine Touring Ski Boots still rule the roost, having proven their weight in Grilamid many times over. A fairly narrow-lasted boot that can be Memory Fit heat customized to fit most average or even wider than average feet, the Backland Carbon has an insanely smooth 74˚ range of cuff motion and a removable tongue that will inspire big days and help fuel those grand ski touring objectives.
Fit:
Last: 98 mm – Narrow Fit
Memory Fit – Advanced heat molding technology creates a fully personalized shell, cuff and liner fit in minutes.
Cross Lace – A new closure system used on Backland that wraps the foot from three points to hold it securely.
Size Adjuster – Under-the-footbed adjusters that make the boot precisely half a size smaller.
Flex:
True Flex – Atomic's exclusive shell materials change less with temperature fluctuation, so your boots' flex changes less in cold or warm weather.

Liner:
Backland Platinum Liner – This liner features perforated, waterproof engineering that lets excess heat and moisture escape, keeping your feet drier, warmer and less prone to blisters. It’s 100% safe to hand wash to keep the liner odor free. Plus it’s heat moldable for a fully personalized fit and features special support zones in the calf, ankle and tongue for superb downhill performance.

Cuff – Grilamid
Carbon Spine – Carbon-reinforced areas of the cuff and shell provide increased responsiveness and power transmission while maintaining feel and sensitivity at the front of the boot.
Stance
15˚ or 17˚ Forward Lean – Remove the Free/Lock 2.0 lever and flip the backer chip to change forward lean.
Ski/Walk Mode
Free/Lock 2.0 Walk Mechanism – The Free/Lock 2.0 lever and Frictionless Pivots provide a smooth 74˚ of cuff movement. Plus 13°-15° adjustable forward lean for skiing.
Frictionless Pivot – Igus polymer bushings reduce resistance and add durability for completely natural movement and effortless ascents.
Removable Quick Click Hard Tongue – Featured on Backland, this easy system means you can switch from no tongue for climbing to a supportive tongue for skiing.
